Graduate Programs

Researcher Graduate programs in the Biological Sciences are housed within the two departments, the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and the Department of Molecular Biosciences. Please access the homepage of the individual departments to obtain information on graduate degree requirements, application procedures and areas of research within the two departments. The breadth of faculty expertise within the two large departments provides strength to both the undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the Biological Sciences. Faculty expertise spans molecular biology, genetics, immunology, virology, pathogenic microbiology, physiology (animal, plant, and microbial), developmental and cell biology, neuroscience, ecology, population biology, systematics, and evolutionary biology.

Researcher Graduate research constitutes a major effort of the Division to fulfill both the Research and Graduate Teaching components of the mission of the University.  Both departments carry out graduate-level research within their particular discipline; however, there is substantial collaboration among the faculty, and graduate students may at one time or another, perform work within different departments or may be guided by more than one professor - even though there will always be a major professor with whom the graduate student is associated. Further information on graduate programs within the two departments can be found on their websites.
